Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween, a bit late. We had a fun time trick-or-treating this year. We had to wait for the rain to stop, but we were able to swing by a few houses. Nate really enjoyed the stroller ride. Mommy really enjoyed the candy. Nate looked super cute as the tin man, along with his girlfriend Natalie as the lion and Melanie as Dorothy. All we need was another kid and a yellow brick road to complete it. All in all it was a great night!

Nate had his 1 year check up and remains super skinny. 18 pounds 14 ounces (4th percentile), 29 inches long (60th percentile). Although he is skinny, he is healthy. Now to fatten him up. We start cow's milk and all sorts of new food. NO more baby food.

1 Year

Nate's birthday was a huge success. I tried to keep it small, but was unsuccessful. It was so nice to have all of Nate's family and friends around to share his special day. Although it was rainy all the kids played together well and had a great time. With Nate's sweet tooth, I just knew that he would love his smash cake. Boy was I wrong. He played in it a little and with help from daddy, got some on his face. He enjoyed it, but stayed pretty clean. Thanks to everyone for helping spoil my sweet little bean!

Pumpkin patch

We visited the pumpkin patch a few weeks ago. Nate was dressed in Halloween attire and about sweat to death. It turned out to be 80 degrees. So much for fall fun. We made the best of it. We practically ran through the corn maze with Nate in the stroller. It was fun, but would have been better if it was cooler. Chris shot apples at a target, we picked out enormous pumpkins and shopped in the really cute country store. All in all it was a fun time. We were beat after it and Nate passed out in the car immediately.

Toilet: 1 Nate: 0

So Nate had his first real injury, blood and all. He was in the bathroom (his favorite place) with Chris, when he pulled up and stood holding on to the toilet. Not unusual. He tends to see if the lid is up and he can play in the water. GROSS! Well the lid was down and he played for a minute. While trying to sit down and move on...he slipped and smacked his tooth that has not come through on the toilet lid. This in turn caused a gush of blood and hysterical screaming. After a few minutes of bleeding and the screaming stopped, his gum was all swollen. All I have to say is GO Chris. He was the only one home and handled it great. He didn't call and tell me until all was over and I was on my way home from work. The only thing he forgot was a little Tylenol for the pain. I came up with that when I got home. Nate is great. Handled it like a boy: injury, cry, brush it off, move on!

Cape San Blas

We have finally slowed down for a couple weeks. All of our vacationing is over. We had a blast at the beach with all of Chris' family. Nate was the best while riding in the car. He only cried once on the way there and slept 6 out of the 7 hours it took to get home. The ride home seemed the longest...with all the rain. We are back and falling into a routine again. Nate is eating, sleeping and playing great. His newest trick is to say "UH" this is his version on uh-oh. Too cute. He also finally cut one of his front teeth. So yes right now he has three teeth. Very country. He is so busy and I am really looking forward to his first birthday party. I can't believe how fast he grows up. Talking, scooting along furniture, crawling, laughing. What a big boy he has become!

A busy August

We have been going and going. With Nate on the move as such a good crawler there is not stopping him...except if he gets himself stuck in a tight spot ans can't figure out how to get out. For instance between the couch and end table leg...hmmm. Well we have had a busy past few weeks and will continue for the next few weeks. Nate is an awesome car rider. We put his skills to the test with long 15 hour drive to New York. We had so much visiting my family and letting Nate and Gavin meet there Great Grandma. We had a blast! Thanks to my Aunt Phyllis for putting us up for a couple on nights. She would do great running that bed ans breakfast she is trying to talk my Uncle into. I was seriously wondering where the chocolate for my pillow was. We then drove across Pennsylvania to visit some family friends of Jason and Laura. Only a few wrong turns and driving through Manhattan was the worst part. It was nice to relax in a small town and visit Lake Erie, BRRRRR. The water was soooo cold, but we put our feet in anyway and Nate got to experience sand for the first time.

Sad day for mommy!

Nate has had a runny nose for the past week or so. Not a big deal. Until, I get home from work and am informed that he was good today at miss Lisandra's house as long as he was being held and that he only napped for a total of 45 minutes all day. So of course when Chris got him home he crashed. Chris woke him for dinner and I got home in time for a little mommy TLC. Well, he was on FIRE when I picked him up. Yup, we dealt with on and off fevers all night and the crying that goes along with it. So off to the doctor we went and sure enough he has double ear infections and one of the ear drums ruptured. I feel so bad that it gets to the point of rupturing before he shows any signs of being sick. What a trooper he was when the doctor checked his ears...just a little wiggling and fussing. I got the prescriptions filled and off to the house. I got him a treat while we waited for the meds, spaghetti-o's for lunch. When we got home he was great and took the antibiotic fine. Then came the ear drops...I have never heard my child cry out in so much pain as he did when I put in the ear drops. I still have tears in my eyes about it. He is resting now and I just want to hold him all day. If I could only take the pain away. Sad day for mommy!

Toy: 1 Nate: 0

Yep thats right folks the toy won this battle. Again, just like the last one, this is not my fault. When it comes to a newly mobile child that is very interested in everything, injuries are bound to happen. Nate is getting better and better at his army crawl. He is quick. He shows no interest in crawling on hands and knees. What he wants is to stand and walk. We are just working on the whole balance issue. So when he is playing on the floor he tends to end up sitting on his knees trying to balance on the toy so he can stand. Well, that is what happened today. The toy just couldn't take it and fell over with Nate face planting into it. I didn't realize that he had made a mark on his face until later. Check out his right eye and he has a small mark and bump on his forehead. What a tough little bean!
